Left Hand Warmup

How to Warm Up Your Weak Hand for Drumming

This warmup consists of two key measures. The first measure uses left hand doubles to build control and rebound. The second measure alternates between left and right hands to create a balanced warmup pattern.

Note: If your weak hand is your right hand, reverse the sticking pattern.

Tips for Effective Weak Hand Warmup

Start slow and focus on:

  • Relaxed, natural rebound in doubles
  • Clean transitions between hands
  • Even spacing between all notes
  • Gradually building speed and control

Common Warmup Mistakes to Avoid

  • Starting too fast
  • Tensing up during doubles
  • Uneven spacing between notes
  • Rushing the alternating pattern

Start at around 80 BPM and gradually increase speed. Remember, this is a warmup - the goal is to prepare your hands for practice, not to push for maximum speed. Keep your grip relaxed and maintain control throughout.
