Drag Paradiddle #2

What is a drag paradiddle #2?

The Drag Paradiddle #2, also known as Dragadiddle #2, adds a second drag to the first variation. The basic structure is:

  • Sticking pattern is RllR llRLRR, after which you flip it so you start with the opposite hand and you get LrrL rrLRLL
  • Accent falls on the first note of each six-note grouping
  • Six-note pattern switches lead hands

Success with this variation relies on drag placement and articulation. Start slow and focus on:

  • Clean and strong initial tap
  • Precise double drag execution
  • Even tap spacing
  • Fluid movement between groups
