What is a drag paradiddle #2?
The Drag Paradiddle #2, also known as Dragadiddle #2, adds a second drag to the first variation. The basic structure is:
- Sticking pattern is RllR llRLRR, after which you flip it so you start with the opposite hand and you get LrrL rrLRLL
- Accent falls on the first note of each six-note grouping
- Six-note pattern switches lead hands
Success with this variation relies on drag placement and articulation. Start slow and focus on:
- Clean and strong initial tap
- Precise double drag execution
- Even tap spacing
- Fluid movement between groups
