What is a flam drag?

The Flam Drag is a triplet-based rudiment that combines flams and drags. The basic structure is a triplet where:

• The first note is a flam
• The second note is a drag (double stroke)
• The third note is a single stroke

The key to mastering this rudiment is developing a smooth, consistent triplet feel while controlling the volume of your grace notes. Start slow and focus on:

• Even spacing within each triplet grouping
• Crisp, tight flams on the first note
• Quick, light doubles in the middle of each triplet
• Maintaining consistent volume on the primary notes
