Single Flammed Mill

What is a single flammed mill?

The Single Flammed Mill combines flams with a reverse paradiddle, also known as a mill (RRLR or LLRL). The basic structure is:

  • Flam tap followed by a mill: lRRLR and then flip that to start with your opposite hand: rLLRL
  • Each new grouping starts with a flam
  • Pattern repeats, switching lead hands

Before approaching this rudiment, make sure you have your flams and paradiddles down. Then, focus on:

  • Precise flam spacing
  • Even doubles after the flam
  • Consistent hand transitions
  • Smooth flow between groups
