Flam Paradiddle

What is a flam paradiddle?

The Flam Paradiddle is a single paradiddle with a flammed first note. The basic structure is:

• The sticking pattern is lRLRR, then flip this in reverse so that you start with the opposite hand: rLRLL
• Accent on the flam
• Four-note sequence follows paradiddle sticking

In order to get this rudiment right, you will have to focus on flam precision. Start slow and focus on:

• Clean flams to start each group
• Even paradiddle spacing
• Consistent double strokes at the end
• Smooth transitions between hands
