What is a single dragadiddle?

The Single Dragadiddle is a rudiment where the first note of a single paradiddle is a drag. The basic structure is:

• First note of the paradiddle is replaced by a drag
• Sticking pattern is RRLRR and then LLRLL
• Accent falls on the drag

One of the key, and most difficult, elements of this rudiment is the drag on the first note of the paradiddle. Start slow and focus on:

• Clean drag execution
• Even paradiddle spacing
• Strong accent placement on the drag
• Smooth flow throughout
