What is a triple stroke roll?
With a Triple Stroke Roll, you play three notes with one hand, then three with the other hand. The basic structure is:
- Three rights followed by three lefts (RRR LLL)
- Each hand plays at the same volume level
The key to mastering this rudiment is developing smooth transitions between hands. Start slow and focus on:
- Even spacing within each three-note grouping
- Clean hand switches after each group of three
- Consistent volume across all strokes
- Relaxed grip to prevent tension
