Triple Stroke Roll

What is a triple stroke roll?

With a Triple Stroke Roll, you play three notes with one hand, then three with the other hand. The basic structure is:

  • Three rights followed by three lefts (RRR LLL)
  • Each hand plays at the same volume level

The key to mastering this rudiment is developing smooth transitions between hands. Start slow and focus on:

  • Even spacing within each three-note grouping
  • Clean hand switches after each group of three
  • Consistent volume across all strokes
  • Relaxed grip to prevent tension
