Single Drag Tap

What is a single drag tap?

The Single Drag Tap combines drags with taps in a flowing pattern. The basic structure is:

  • Drag followed by a tap: llRL or rrLR
  • Accent falls on the tap after the drag
  • Alternates between hands

Mastering this rudiment depends on controlling the intensity of the grace notes, primaries, and accents. Start slow and focus on:

  • Quick, light grace notes
  • Strong tap accent
  • Even tap spacing
  • Smooth, flowing hand-to-hand motion
