What is a flamacue?
The Flamacue is a five stroke roll but with the first and last notes flammed. The basic structure is:
- Sticking pattern is lRLRL lR and then you flip that in reverse and start with the opposite hand: rLRLR rL
- First note (flam) and last note are accented
- Five-note pattern total
The way to get the Flamacue right is by learning to control the intensity of your strokes. Start slow and focus on:
- Clean flam execution
- Even taps between accents
- Strong final accent
- Consistent rhythm throughout
